Data Integration

Connecting your apps and sharing data between them is the next level of productivity and efficiency.

Architect Using Digital Tablet On Blueprint In Office

Integration is the exchange of business data from multiple applications in order to create an easily manageable and universally understandable platform for decision making.

For AEC, integration is rooted in the idea that if we can, for example, get our project management database to easily translate to our accounting database, then we reduce errors and complexity across the business. And that leads to better projects, higher profit margins and repeat business.

AEC Cloud’s enterprise application integration focuses on a modular approach using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Now take a look at the diagram below.
This is a simple representation of integration.

Integration Strategy
Integration involves three key components:

  1. Middleware (center or hub) orchestrates the integration process. It is a critical component for integration configuration;
  2. Web Services (blue arrows) transfers information between the middleware and end application or database;
  3. An Adapter (orange puzzle piece) connects the end application or database to the middleware

Below is is the same diagram, but showing an example of a real world scenario in the AEC Industry.
Applications can “talk” to each other and share data.

Middleware (center of the circle):
BizTalk Server, a middleware platform by Microsoft, has a strong history of providing enterprise integration solutions.

Pre-Built or Custom Adapters (the orange puzzle piece):
is a software component that enables you to easily send messages in and out of an application or database, and into the BizTalk Server.

The end result is that data can be shared across different applications or databases. Oracle, Prolog, Viewpoint, JD Edwards, and many more common AEC industry applications can be connected to each other.
The delivery of solutions such as payment processing, supply chain management, business-to-business EDI, real-time decision making, and reporting.
